Why Verrim exists.
The problem
Every tax-exempt sale rests on a piece of paper. When a business sells without charging sales tax, a resale or exemption certificate is the only proof it was allowed to. No valid certificate, no proof — and the tax becomes the seller's to pay.
In most businesses, those certificates live in spreadsheets, inboxes, and filing drawers. They are collected once and rarely looked at again. Watching them is nobody's job, so nobody does — and expired or incomplete certificates sit quietly next to valid ones, looking exactly the same.
Then an audit letter arrives, and years of paperwork are judged at once. Certificates that are missing, expired, or filled out wrong turn into tax owed on sales that were legitimately exempt — plus penalties, plus interest. The rules assume a compliance department. Most businesses that sell exempt have one person handling this next to their actual job, and the software world has not caught up with them.
The idea
Verrim is one place where every certificate lives. Each one is read the day it arrives — who it covers, which states, when it expires — and watched every day after that.
Nothing waits for an audit to be discovered. Expirations surface while there is still time to fix them. Missing coverage shows itself before an auditor finds it. The proof an audit will ask for is kept ready continuously, so the answer exists before the question is asked.
That is the whole idea: audit-ready should not be a project you start when the letter arrives. It should be the state you are already in.
The vision
We believe compliance should be simpler than the problem it solves. A business should not need a consultant, a rollout, or a training week to prove it followed the rules.
We are building toward something specific: a world where audit-ready is the default state of every business that sells exempt — where certificates take care of themselves, exposure is visible at a glance, and an audit letter is met with an export, not an emergency.
Every business deserves that, not only the ones large enough to staff a compliance department. That is the standard we hold Verrim to, and the direction everything we build points.
